Fee guide · Facebook Marketplace
Marketplace is really two businesses wearing one name. Sell locally and take payment in person, and Meta charges nothing — the money never touches Facebook. Ship an order through Facebook’s checkout, and a 10% selling fee comes out of your payout, figured on the whole transaction. Which mode a sale used is the entire fee question here.
Fees last verified Oct 29, 2026
| Fee | Amount | Who pays it |
|---|---|---|
| Listing an item | Free | — |
| Local pickup sale, paid in person | No selling fee | — the money never goes through Facebook checkout |
| Selling fee — shipped order through Facebook checkout | 10% of the whole transaction (item price + shipping + any sales tax), minimum $0.80 per order | Seller — deducted from your payout |
| Payment processing on shipped orders | Included in the selling fee | — no separate card fee |
Meta raised the shipped-order fee from 5% (minimum $0.40) to 10% (minimum $0.80) in April 2024, and it has held since. Older guides — and at least one of Meta’s own help pages — still quote the 5% figure; the number in Meta’s Seller Protection Policy is the one that governs your payout.

Before your item cost and the shipping label itself. If Facebook collects sales tax on the order, the fee is figured on the tax too, so the real fee runs a little higher than these figures. And watch the minimum on small items: a $4 item shipped with $3.50 postage totals $7.50 — 10% would be $0.75, so the $0.80 minimum applies, and the fee takes more than 10% of the price before you’ve bought the label. The same $50 item sold locally, paid in person, pays no fee at all.
Most profit spreadsheets either skip Marketplace entirely or run every sale through one flat percentage. Both get this platform wrong: the fee depends on the mode, not just the amount. The Sold Ledger keeps the shipped-order fee — 10% with the $0.80 minimum — in one editable Settings row, and its FAQ explains how local-only sellers zero the rate so local sales record no fee. Two modes, both handled, nothing hardcoded.
The Sold Ledger applies Marketplace’s shipped-order fee automatically — plus verified tables for eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, StockX, Whatnot, and Etsy. $39 once, every year in one file.
